Movie Recommendations

There are so many great (and not so great) films out there but I am one of those people that would rather watch and rewatch a film time and time again, that I know I love, over a new one that may or may not be good... unless it sounds amazing or has been personally recommended to me. I think I worry that it's going to be terrible and a waste of my life as I'm not good at starting a film and turning it off if it sucks- I try to finish it anyway as is the same with books. Despite all of this, there are a few films I've watched for the first time recently that I really enjoyed, so I thought I'd share them with you as a recommendation for anyone else that may face the same dilemma or that has a similar interest in films to me.

The Intern- This is such a heartwarming, enjoyable film. I love how it focuses on Jules' (Anne Hathaway) career as well as the great working relationship and friendship that forms between Jules and Ben (Robert De Niro). It makes a change from the usual romcoms but is still entertaining and enjoyable to watch. I was also left with a strong sense of empowerment after seeing the success and positive working attitude Jules has.

Sisters- Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are a great comedy duo, which is showcased in this movie. I wasn't expecting much from it but I actually really enjoyed the film and found myself laughing a great deal throughout. Showing the turbulent family relationships unfold is both engaging and humorous, making it an easy watch that I could see a lot of people enjoying.

Finding Dory- I didn't watch this for the first time recently but I wanted to include it anyway for anyone living under a rock that may not have heard enough about it! I bought the DVD over new year and loved watching it for a second time. Baby Dory is one of the cutest things ever created, along with the otters, which just makes the film a great one to watch. Although the plot is very similar to the first, it works and is as enjoyable, if not more (is that a controversial opinion?!). Plus, the memes created as a result of this film made me laugh a lot, which definitely gives it bonus points!

Mike and Dave need wedding dates- Definitely quite a rude comedy but it's very funny and entertaining nonetheless. Personally, I'm not a big fan of Aubrey Plaza but Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick and Zac Efron are always great and make a film that bit more enjoyable, especially together. Not only have I enjoyed watching the film itself, but also the interviews with the cast whilst they were promoting the film.

We need to talk about Kevin- A very different style of film from any of the others in this post, this psychological thriller is an interesting watch and involves some great acting skills! Ezra Miller plays a great Kevin and the child actors match up really nicely. Although the flipping backwards and forwards in time was confusing to begin with, it became easier to follow and made the whole atmosphere of the film come together, reflecting the tone of the storyline.

I'm sorry for the lack of blog posts recently, I think I just needed a bit of a break to try and bring back the inspiration and motivation. Whilst it doesn't seem to be back up to normal, it's massively improved and my plan is to get back into it with one blog post a week.
